Hyacinths
Hyacinths are unbeatable when it comes to spring fragrance. Great in a well drained position in the garden, but at their best in large pots full of a single colour. They pair well when planted with tulips, daffodils or Muscari in the pots.
Care Tips
- Plant any time from early March to the end of May.
- They prefer well drained soil as they really don't like wet feet.
- In warmer areas, chilling the bulbs for six weeks before planting is recommended, to ensure you get a good stem length.
- After flowering, fertilise them to boost growth and help them re-gain strength for the next season.
- Keep watering after flowering as well, so the leaves remain green through into early December. The longer they remain green, the more growth the bulb will make.
