Milder than normal Printanor garlic and making large fist-sized bulbs, our Elephant garlic is grown right here on our own nursery and is ready to plant now.
Plant in rows 3cm deep with 12 cm between the cloves. Elephant garlic needs good light, so if you have more than one row, space the rows 30-40 cm apart.
The old rule with garlic is to plant on the shortest day and harvest on the longest, but Elephant Garlic is better planted in May and harvested in early December when it is yellowing but before the outer leaves die back completely.
Fertilise with general purpose fertiliser in September and again in early November to boost them for their final growth push.
Garlic and shallots are shipped in May and freight is charged separately from other bulb orders
*** Please note that Elephant Garlic is sold in cloves, not bulbs ***
