In late spring to early summer, sturdy 60cm stems bear large, nodding umbels of bell-shaped flowers in shades of green, cream, pink, and purple.
Each bloom has a waxy texture and prominent dark stamens, and is attractive to bees.
Native to southeastern Europe, this hardy plant thrives in well-drained soil and full sun to partial shade.

Members of the onion family, most alliums prefer a warm sunny position with good drainage.
